Round 1: 1-2 from Menifield to start. Knight dodges an overhand right and knocks him down, but Menifield rolls to land at the top in lateral control. The shoulder hits a minute. Knight slips out as Menifield searches for a hold for the scarf, then grabs onto Menifield’s back. Two minutes later. Menifield spins freely and threatens to be pulled back, adjusting as Knight searches for a guillotine. Menifield ignores a low blow. Knight holding a front headlock. Only two more minutes.

Knight still holds the front lock as Menifield enters. Now they’re parting ways a minute from the end. Against 1-2 from Menifield as Knight throws low kicks. Knight’s hard right cross, then a left hook against which crushes Menifield. Menifield somehow survives. 10-9 Knight.

Round 2: Menifield checks for a leg kick, lands a counter, and Knight rushes in to split up. The brutal right stings the knight, Menifield stays behind. Low kick exchange after one minute. Knight considers, abandons a level change. Knight takes a front kick. Menifield leads right. Against 1-2 to respond to a front kick. Knight tries a wheelie. 1-2, Menifield left hook. Two minutes later. Left hook at the top. Knight does another front kick, then a spinning fist. Menifield 3-2, then a left hook catches Knight spinning. Knight tries an overhand right. Only two more minutes.

Jab from Menifield. Very calm rhythm. Jab exchange, Menifield’s is better. Knight throws an overhand forehand, lands a leg kick. More than a minute. Menifield jabs, overhand right. Knight shoots a knockdown that makes Menifield buzz before the bell. 10-9 Ménifield.

Round 3: Both land early with the right hand. The knight kicks low. Knight tries a punch from Superman and they buckle up. Menifield leads him to the fence. One minute. I’m looking for a teardown. Two minutes later. Menifield continues to work. Knight occasionally threatening a front header. Only two more minutes.

Ref wants more action. Exchange short body shots. More than a minute. Knight’s knee with a minute to go. Jab exchange. Knight tries a header, lands a kick in the leg. Moving forward. Jab lands for Menifield. One from Knight too. Knight tries a few final knockdowns. 10-9 Ménifield.

155 lbs. : Chris Gruetzemacher vs. Claudio Puelles

1st round: low kick from Gruetzemacher, kick to the body from Puelles. Exchange of kicks. Puelles shoots, finishes him off on guard. One minute. Strong elbow. Gruetzemacher doesn’t do much on his back. Two minutes later. Gruetzemacher tries an armband, abandons the half-guard. Only two more minutes.

Puelles is busy trying to get the upper hand, then goes on guard with guillotine blows. Let him down. Puelles elbows in frames. More than a minute. Heavy shots. Gruetzemacher regains the half-guard. Puelles shifted to lateral control, then north-south. Scrambling at the end. 10-9 Puelles, limit 10-8.

Round 2: Strong early strikes from Puelles. He shoots, denies, tries again and collapses. Puelles is on guard. One minute later. Gruetzemacher’s left hands. Puelles with hammer blows in the back. Now an attempt at a triangle. Gruetzemacher sits up, then patiently retracts his arm. Two minutes later. Deep half-guard. Gruetzemacher uses a whistle to refuse a sweep, but injures himself with a head butt and left hands when they come back to their feet. Puelles pulls. Only two more minutes.

Gruetzemacher reverses, then separates. Quick exchange in the center. Puelles throwing solid kicks. He shoots, denied. Gruetzemacher kick one minute from the end. Gruetzemacher knee, Puelles elbow. Puelles puts him on the spot. Trade in small kicks and knees. Puelles solid elbows. Gruetzemacher kneels down, denies a level change. 10-9 Puelles.

Round 3: melee early, then Puelles puts a straight knee to the nuts. Puelles tries a pair of head shots. Solid punches from Gruetzemacher, who shoves a takedown. They exchange elbows on the fence. Puelles low kick. He shoots, denies, and Gruetzemacher turns to the upper turtle to unleash punches. Puelles gets to his feet and puts him on the fence. Two minutes later. Gruetzemacher pushes him down and takes the first place. Puelles turns around for one leg. Puelles hammer fists. Gruetzemacher stacks it, starts hitting the turtle again with two minutes to go.

Puelles rolls for one leg again and this time he has the knee bar, forcing the cock.

Final result: Puelles won. Gruetzemacher by submission (knee pad)


135 lbs: Vince Morales vs. Louis Smolka

Round 1: 1-1-2 from Smolka to start, then a pair of low kicks. The body kick connects. Morales digs a right at the bottom and a pair of jabs at the top. Smolka continues to aim for the lead leg, eats a quick burst and comes back with a left hook a minute later. Morales tight hook. Smolka pushing forward, eats a low-high combo. Exchanges of punches, the two land low kicks. Smolka grabs onto her knees to land, then gets crushed by a forehand on the exit. Smolka falls face first and Morales swarms for the finish.

End result: Morales beat. Smolka by TKO (punches)
