Showmax Adds Live News Streaming From Popular News Networks

Showmax, Multichoice’s video-on-demand service, has added a pretty nifty feature that will please some users.

They have now added live news to the platform from major news companies. This includes BBC World News, Al Jazeera, Sky News, CNN, Euronews, and Newzroom Africa.

This is available on Showmax on the web (Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge), Samsung Smart TVs from 2017 or later, LG Smart TVs from 204 and later, Android smartphones 4.4.0 or later and Android TVs. Showmax says they will add support for Apple TV and iOS later.

One of the main reasons people watch traditional television is to watch the news, whether it comes from local or international media. DStv, Showmax’s brother, owns both local channels that broadcast news as well as international news and Showmax now gets the same treatment.

Showmax has been steadily adding value to its subscription for quite some time. They started out by offering the regular TV shows and movies like all other subscription models. They have moved on to streaming shows as they are released, like the new season of Westworld which is pretty cool. Last year they started offering live sports streaming which was big as a lot of people pay money to catch up with their favorite sporting events.

The service also offers a pretty good 3 month subscription for the price of a month that will end very soon, so you can check it out here.
