The Ascension Parish’s Office of Emergency Preparedness and Homeland Security has announced that the parish will open a second Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Lemann Memorial Center, 1100 Clay Street in Donaldsonville. It joins the already open ground floor at 1112 S. East Ascension Complex Boulevard in Gonzales.
The center will open on Wednesday September 29 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thereafter, the opening hours will be Monday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The DRC will assist residents who need assistance with various FEMA forms and applications. It also provides information on the types and sources of assistance available.
Anyone who has not already registered for disaster assistance through FEMA can do so in DRC. These centers are for residents who have questions or concerns regarding their FEMA claim.
Those who have already registered with FEMA, whether through mobile registration or online, will not need to travel to the DRC unless:
- You have questions,
- You need further assistance with your request.
With two DRCs in Ascension Parish, residents have the ability to speak directly with a FEMA representative without the need to pre-register or make an appointment.
Additionally, the FEMA Helpline can be contacted daily at 1-800-621-3362 (711 or VRS available).
For now, these DRCs should remain open until Friday, October 15.
